My youngest daughter and friends

Stacy has a new cat named Elmer. Penelope is the minature greyhound that Stacy dogsits when her boss is out of town. The pair get along very well and if Elmer goes outside and then comes back indoors and can't find Penelope he starts meowing loudly calling to his friend. So funny.

Crocheting

Yesterday my granddaughter Hailey who is in the 3rd grade and I crocheted together!
I taught her the slip stitch and single crochet....she already knew how to make a chain from making bracelets.
We had fun making chains of small flowers. I didn't get a picture, but next time she comes out I hope to remember.

Still Knitting Sweaters

Even though it's in the 90's outside, I'm still making sweaters and matching caps for infants and toddlers at the Spokane Valley Partners. I am addicted to having knitting needles in my hands when I sit down! It's one of those "good" addictions so it's okay.
Yesterday, I had to drench the garden...it was SO dry out there. More like the Mohabi Desert.
Then, that eve I watched so many Tom Petty utube videos that I was too hyper to fall asleep... felt like I'd just come home from one of his concerts.
We've expanded our neighborhood garden to another area this year so lots more room for cuc's and zuc's. Looks like one neighbor has a lot of strawberries she got from somewhere, (they're in buckets of water right now) and will soon plant them.
We pulled out many old shrubs and Oregon grapes this season. YIPPEY! No more spikey sharp leaves to step on in barefeet!
I was yelling and complaining all through the 1st Seahawk pre-season game against the Cards. And here it ends up we win 24 - 17. Egg on my face.

It's Still Cold Here!

I can't believe the cold temps we're having compared to the rest of the country. It's really starting to depress me. I want to get out in the dirt and dig around so badly. I have sunflower seeds from TX that daughter sent me that I am dying to plant. Oldest son is now living with me and wants some zuccini, so will plant a couple hills this yr. Didn't plant any last year. Boy, my bush beans sure froze nicely. I've been adding them to stew and beef barley soup. Still knitting hats for the disadvantaged kids in my area. I have a fav cable pattern that I am using now.

Just been takin' it easy

I haven't been here for soo long! Just been knitting charity hats and making a few doilies for myself. Oh, and have a black top for myself OTN also. We sure had a light winter. And it's looking to be an early spring and summer. I can't wait to get back out in the dirt. I'm thinking beans, beets and of course tomatoes.
Here's a picture of the last bunch of hats.

I just finished this one yesterday afternoon. It was quite simple and I will definitely be making more. It is very easy... mostly just garterstitch. The pattern can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/6uqbla
It is a size 12 months, but the pattern is also for 6 mos. and 9 mos.
